In lesson 1 you learn to windsurf back and forth and turn around. So you can already windsurf after 1 hour! Of course this is only the beginning, there is still a lot to learn. You also learn to steer with your surfboard, important for your follow-up lesson.

Land part
» Theory about wind direction, half wind sailing, steering and turning around
» Practice on dry land with the sail pulling up, starting and steering
» Where is the blind spot?

Water part
» Starting and sailing
» Turn around (tack)
» Steering with the surfboard

In lesson 2 you will try to sail slightly towards the wind. We do this by sailing upwind and focusing on a target, such as a buoy. We will also make the simple jibe.

Upwind sailing
» Sailing position
» Determine point on land where you are going to sail
» Zig-zag sailing towards the wind

» Turn with the wind
» Sail goes over the front of the board

In lesson 3 the focus is on crossing to a point higher upwind. You need this for the quick jibe. In the fast jibe we keep power in the sail and move the feet towards the back of the board.

Crossing up
» Choose a (fixed) point higher up the wind
» Determine where you are trying to sail on each leg
» Sail long legs to cross as quickly as possible

Fast jibe
» Fall off to wide wind course
» Move feet back
» Tipping the sail and stepping on feet

In lesson 4 we will work on good body posture while windsurfing. With a bit more wind, the body weight can be used to hang on the sail. This is an important lesson for later sailing with a trapeze.

Body posture
» Foot position
» Hanging
» Turn in hips
» Stretch the front arm

In lesson 5 the goal is to be able to sail a triangle independently. It is important that the student can determine the wind direction and the courses himself.

» Determine wind direction
» Cross up
» Jibe and tack
» Body posture

Disclaimer: Not everyone learns according to the same learning curve. This lesson structure is based on an average student. Some students will learn faster than others, keep this in mind and don’t be disappointed if someone is faster or better than you. With us, safety and independency come first and we adapt our lessons to that at all times!

The children’s course has been specially developed for children aged 6-10 years. Windsurfing is introduced in a playful way in 3 private lessons. Due to the one-on-one guidance, the instructor can really keep all the attention on the child and the lesson program is adapted to the needs of the student. During the children’s course, the instructor strives to let the student sail back and forth independently, make turns, but above all have a lot of fun. It can happen that a lesson ends with a real jellyfish fight or a sea monster quest.

After following the basic course you can continue with the longboard advanced course. It is important that you can already cross and jibe and tack. In this course you will learn how to surf with a trapeze, make a beach start and various longboard freestyle tricks such as sailing backwind, helitack or a sail 360.

After following the longboard advanced course you can continue with the shortboard course. A shortboard is a smaller and lighter board without a sword and there are foot straps on the board. It is important that you have also practiced yourself in the trapeze for some hours, so that you are comfortable with it. The aim of this course is to learn how to plan in the foot straps, where you bounce over the water, as it were. This is a lot faster than you are used to! Because we can only plan if there is enough power in the sail, this course will only take place if there is at least wind force 5.

Would you like to get some practice in, inthe meantime or are you done with lessons for a bit? Then choose to rent equipment. More information about this can be found here.
